Jeff Simpson's work utilizes a combination of traditional and digital media. I find it really fascinating becuse it allows the work to be painterly, which is important to me, and also maintain the almost unreal glowy smoothness of digital media. He's clearly a master of the figure and planar studies. He has worked on movies like Snow White and the Huntsman as a concept artist, but I think his work could also be considered fine art. I am incredibly interested in his process, and I would like to figure out how to integrate watercolors and oil paints into my digital painting in a way that goes beyond just using textures- perhaps by printing them and painting on top of them?
